POWER ELECTRONICS
This teaching and learning book is divided into six main chapters:
- Fundamentals of Power Electronics
- Power semiconductors
- Control rates of line-commutated power converters
- Externally controlled power converters
- Self-commutated power converters
- Inverter feedback and EMC
A key focus of the book is the explanation of the operating principle and dimensioning of power converters for drive technology. Particular attention is paid to the use of rotating field machines.
The U-converter - with state-of-the-art semiconductors in the inverter section and microprocessor-controlled - is, in accordance with its importance, shown in conjunction with the asynchronous machine.
Particular emphasis was placed on a learner-friendly methodology. The clear, two-column layout, along with numerous tasks, exercises, and tests including solutions, are designed to support learners and deepen their understanding of the material. This approach highlights the challenges of power converter technology, highlighting both its advantages and certain disadvantages compared to other technologies. Differential and integral calculus were largely omitted.
The fourth edition has been comprehensively revised and its content has been partially renewed and expanded.
